According to Bloomberg, the European Union is in talks to join Pax Silica, a US-backed alliance for semiconductors, AI infrastructure, critical minerals, and data centers, as part of efforts to reduce reliance on China. The European Commission plans to send a senior official to the US in the coming weeks to work through the terms.
The move comes as Sweden and Finland have already joined the alliance, and the EU is seeking support from France. The talks intensify amid China's tightened export controls on rare earths and other minerals, prompting closer EU-US cooperation on raw materials.
