EU Unfreezes €16.4 Billion in Funds for Hungary on May 29

According to Jin10, the European Union unfroze €16.4 billion in funds for Hungary on May 29, following talks between EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban. The funds comprise €10 billion from the NextGenerationEU plan, €4.2 billion linked to cohesion fund conditions, and €2.2 billion related to progress in university autonomy. Orban stated the funds represent approximately 13% of Hungary's annual budget and will support small and medium-sized enterprises, transportation, healthcare, education, energy infrastructure, and digital technology development.
