According to Arielle Pennington, Senior Vice President of Growth at Avalanche, on June 1 FIFA's blockchain-based Right to Buy (RTB) ticketing system for the 2026 World Cup generated over 60,000 transactions on the Avalanche blockchain. The surge drove transaction volumes to approximately 24 times normal network activity, while active addresses increased roughly tenfold. Pennington noted these figures were recorded before the tournament officially began, with millions of fans expected to interact with the FIFA Connect platform to secure ticket eligibility.

Swiss gambling regulator Gespa has filed a complaint alleging the RTB tokens may constitute illegal gambling products, prompting investigations by New York Attorney General Letitia James and New Jersey Attorney General Jennifer Davenport into FIFA's ticketing practices.
