Foreign Investors Concentrate on South Korean Semiconductor Supply Chain, VM and PSK Surge 82-94% in Past Month

According to the Korean Exchange, over the past month from June 5 to July 6, foreign investors concentrated net buying in semiconductor materials, components, and equipment (MCE) companies on the KOSDAQ market. Rino Industrial attracted 682 billion won in net purchases, followed by ISC with 258.5 billion won and Iotechnics with 254.2 billion won, marking significant capital inflows into previously undervalued domestic MCE firms.

Performance diverged sharply by segment. Front-end equipment makers VM and PSK surged 82.62% and 94.35% respectively, while the 'TIGER AI Semiconductor Core Process' and 'KODEX AI Semiconductor Core Equipment' ETFs declined over 13% in the same period, reflecting weakness in back-end and packaging companies like Hanmi Semiconductor and Syspetech. Analysts stressed the need to distinguish between cyclical gains from memory demand recovery and structural competitive advantages of individual companies.
