Singapore-based Formas.AI, which builds AI design software for architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC), raised US$3.98 million in a pre-seed round led by Vertex Ventures Southeast Asia & India. Other backers included UntroD Capital, Hustle Fund, Big Sky Capital, Orvel Ventures, and several angel investors. The company will use the funds to hire staff, build the product, and expand overseas, with the US and Europe as its main markets.
User Adoption and Metrics
Formas.AI reported that users have created more than 500,000 designs across 135 countries since its public beta launched in November 2025.
Product Strategy and Platform Approach
Formas.AI functions as an AI orchestration layer that integrates tools like Google's Gemini and Luma (an AI video-generation company) into a single design workspace. The platform includes separate studios for different jobs, including one tool that converts still images into video sequences, such as construction timelapses.
Lead investor Vertex Ventures Southeast Asia & India backed this approach because it aligns with a broader market shift away from scattered single-use tools toward connected platforms. According to the company, architecture, engineering, and construction teams can consolidate multiple software subscriptions into one platform—one team reportedly reduced three software subscriptions to one.
Formas.AI frames the software as support for designers, with human oversight still required throughout the design process.
Market Context
The architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) software market could reach US$13–15 billion by 2030. Formas.AI's approach targets established vendors by tying workflows together and coordinating several AI models rather than relying on a single system. The platform addresses fragmented work across project phases while maintaining design intent, continuity, and creative control.
