According to Yonhapinfomax, Hong Ui-rak, a former Democratic Party legislator, assumed office as the 19th president of Korea Gas Corporation on July 29. Hong graduated from Korea University's Department of Agricultural Economics and previously served as a vice mayor of Daegu and two terms as a National Assembly member, with experience on the National Assembly's Industrial, Trade, Resources and SMEs Committee. His three-year term runs until July 28, 2029. In his inaugural address, Hong outlined three strategic directions: enhancing the corporation's status and value, establishing a role as a bridge energy provider, and redesigning into an AI-based energy platform company.
