France Rolls Out €710M Fuel Subsidy Package to Ease Rising Energy Costs

On May 21, the French government announced a new round of fuel subsidy measures totaling €710 million to reduce the economic burden from rising fuel prices. The package extends aid to the fishing and agriculture sectors for three additional months and raises the maximum subsidy for low-income long-distance commuters from €50 to €100. Corporate employer fuel allowances will also see their annual tax exemption ceiling doubled from €300 to €600.
