France's ANJ Orders ISPs to Block Polymarket; Up to €100K Fines for Unauthorized Gambling

According to France's Autorité nationale des jeux (ANJ), or National Gambling Authority, the regulator ordered internet service providers to block access to Polymarket on Friday. The ANJ said Polymarket's operations are not authorized in France and cited prediction websites as illegal gambling. Advertising unauthorized gambling sites constitutes a criminal offense with fines of up to 100,000 euros ($114,000). The regulator also cited potential outcome manipulation and addictive features lacking protective mechanisms found in regulated gambling markets. Polymarket is now geoblocked in 36 regions globally.
