Fraternal Order of Police Endorses Revised Crypto CLARITY Act on July 24

According to a July 24 letter from the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP), the nation's largest law enforcement labor organization representing 382,000 active and retired officers has endorsed the revised Digital Asset Market Clarity Act. FOP National President Patrick Yoes said the revised provisions had "satisfactorily addressed" the group's earlier concerns about cryptocurrency-related prosecutions. The endorsement reverses the FOP's April opposition, when the organization warned that language involving noncontrolling blockchain developers could restrict prosecutors pursuing financial crimes. Revised language clarified that protections for certain developers would not curtail investigations or the application of criminal statutes. Meanwhile, seven Democratic senators rejected the Republican draft released July 22, contending the proposal still falls short on ethics, consumer protections, and illicit finance controls.
