Germany Plans 24 TWh Strategic Natural Gas Reserve, Procurement Begins Immediately

On July 7, Germany's Ministry of Economy and Energy announced plans to establish a state-owned strategic natural gas reserve totaling 24 TWh, equivalent to approximately 10% of Germany's total gas storage capacity. The procurement will be completed in batches over two to three years, with the first injection of natural gas into storage facilities scheduled for summer 2027.
