Google Releases Three Lightweight Gemini AI Models on July 21, Delays Pro Flagship

On July 21, Google released three cost-efficient Gemini AI models: Gemini 3.6 Flash and Gemini 3.5 Flash-Lite, both upgraded versions of existing lightweight models, and Gemini 3.5 Flash Cyber, a new model specialized for cybersecurity applications. Gemini 3.5 Flash Cyber is designed to detect and repair software vulnerabilities with lower token costs than larger models, and will initially be available through limited access programs to government agencies and trusted partners.

The highly anticipated flagship Gemini 3.5 Pro model, which has been delayed for weeks, still lacks a confirmed release date. Google stated the model is undergoing testing with partners and will launch in the coming weeks. The company also noted that training for the next-generation Gemini 4 has begun.
