Hong Kong Monetary Authority Publishes Quantum Preparedness Index, Rates Banks 2.3/10 With 2030 Target

According to BeInCrypto, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority released a Quantum Preparedness Index on July 27, rating the banking sector 2.3 out of 10 and targeting full readiness by 2030. The survey found that approximately 50% of surveyed banks have no formal post-quantum cryptography plan, while 32% have not begun transition at all.

The HKMA announced a post-quantum cryptography toolkit developed with Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, along with industry workshops and practical guidance. The regulator aims to achieve a full score of 10 by 2030 through continued support and industry engagement.
