Hong Kong Stocks Fall 1.34% Midday; Hang Seng Index Tests Earlier Low at 22,717

Today, the Hang Seng Index fell 309 points to 22,717 as of 1:34 p.m., down 1.34% and testing its morning low. The National Index declined 110 points or 1.45% to 7,494, while the Tech Index rose 48 points or 1.1% to 4,441.

Among individual stocks, Baidu surged 3.5% to 107.9 yuan following market reports of its chip subsidiary Kunlun Chip planning a Hong Kong listing. China Semiconductor Manufacturing Company rose 6.4% to 90.25 yuan, and Lenovo gained 6.5% to 22.66 yuan as the best-performing blue-chip stock. Nongfu Spring fell 8.9% to 39.42 yuan, tracking as the weakest performer.
