According to CoinDesk, the U.S. House Oversight and Government Reform Committee plans to investigate prediction market platforms over concerns that government employees may be using insider information to profit from policy and national security events. Committee Chair James Comer, a Republican from Kentucky, stated on CNBC's Squawk Box that he is obtaining internal records from the chief executives of Polymarket and Kalshi to determine whether federal employees are exploiting confidential information. Comer indicated the committee may push legislation to prohibit Congress members, government officials, and other federal employees from participating in prediction markets.
