Huawei Signs Strategic Banking Tech Deal With Vietnam's SHB

Gate News message, April 20 — Huawei has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Vietnamese lender SHB to build technology architecture and data platforms for the bank, further expanding Huawei's presence in Vietnam's financial sector.

The partnership will provide SHB with Huawei's Digital CORE Solution, GaussDB database software, and container services to modernize legacy banking systems and enable flexible cloud deployment. Huawei is collaborating with banking software partners including Temenos and Sunline Technology on this initiative. The company is also working with other Vietnamese banks including SCB, SeABank, and Home Credit on security, data analytics, cloud computing, and banking systems.

The deal comes as Vietnam tightens mobile banking security rules, requiring banking apps to block access from rooted or jailbroken devices and compromised environments. Huawei's security and uptime tools, including disaster recovery and fault detection frameworks, address these heightened requirements. The partnership also gives Huawei a foothold in Vietnam's financial infrastructure at the technology layer, following its 2025 contracts to build parts of the country's 5G network.
