Hungary's New Tech Minister Announces Cancellation of Crypto Restrictions on June 6

According to Cryptopolitan, Hungary's new technology minister Zoltán Tanács announced on June 6 the cancellation of unreasonable restrictions on crypto assets, reversing previous government policies that included criminal penalties for unauthorized crypto services. Rules that took effect in July 2025 prompted platforms including Revolut to exit the Hungarian market, imposing higher compliance costs on local enterprises. Tanács, who took office following the new government's formation in May 2026, characterized the restrictions as politically motivated.
