IEA: Escalating Hostilities in Strait of Hormuz Threaten Energy Supply, But 290M Barrels Released Stabilize Oil Market

According to International Energy Agency (IEA) Executive Director Fatih Birol, recent hostile actions against energy infrastructure in the Strait of Hormuz and Bab al-Mandab have escalated global energy supply concerns. However, multiple factors continue to support the oil market. Gulf producers including Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates are maintaining exports through alternative shipping routes, while non-Gulf producers such as the United States, Brazil, Venezuela, and Kazakhstan have increased output. China's reduction of crude oil imports by nearly 50% has also helped stabilize prices. Since March 11, IEA member states have released approximately 290 million barrels from strategic reserves, providing continued market support.
