Indian Refiners Halt Iraq Crude Loading as Strait of Hormuz Security Risks Escalate

According to sources, two Indian state-owned refiners halted loading of crude oil from Iraq on July 21 due to heightened security risks in the Strait of Hormuz. India Oil Company abandoned plans to load the supertanker Lila Jamnagar, which can carry approximately 2 million barrels of crude. The company cited recent attacks on cargo vessels as making full tanker transits through the strait too risky.

Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Company, controlled by Indian Oil and Natural Gas Corporation, also suspended crude oil liftings from Iraq due to the deteriorating security situation.
