Infineon Launches €5 Billion Semiconductor Factory on July 2, Backed by €1 Billion EU Subsidy

According to Bloomberg, German semiconductor company Infineon Technologies is preparing to launch its largest single investment to date—a €5 billion ($5.2 billion) semiconductor factory—which will begin production on July 2. The power chip manufacturing facility, located in Infineon's Dresden complex, received approximately €1 billion in subsidies under the EU Chip Act to boost chip production capacity. COO Alexander Gorski stated that the factory's output will scale gradually based on demand and has the potential to generate up to €5 billion in annual revenue, though he declined to specify when full capacity would be reached. Infineon has already invested approximately €2 billion in construction, with remaining funds to be deployed in phases for additional equipment.
