Iran Warns Strait of Hormuz Will Close Without Negotiations as U.S. Conducts Fresh Airstrikes

According to Yonhapinfomax, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Ghalibaf warned overnight that the Strait of Hormuz would only open through negotiations with Iran, not by U.S. pressure. "If attacked, there will certainly be retaliation," Ghalibaf posted on X, stating that "threats and broken promises are no longer free."

U.S. military conducted additional airstrikes on Iran early today, and President Donald Trump warned of significantly stronger retaliation if Iran attacks ships transiting the Strait. U.S. Vice President JD Vance had previously stated there would be a military response if Iran attempted to close the waterway.
