According to CNN, Iran's top leader adviser on June 6 reaffirmed that Iran and Oman hold sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz, a critical waterway that previously transported one-fifth of global oil and liquefied natural gas. The adviser stated the two countries will jointly manage the strait and clarified that Iran will charge maintenance fees rather than transit tolls, as managing the waterway should not burden Iran alone.
