Ireland Implements Travel Ban on Two Israeli Officials on June 5

According to Irish Justice Minister Jim O'Callaghan's office, Ireland implemented a travel ban on Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich on June 5. Prime Minister Micheal Martin stated that the two officials' conduct reflects intent to remove Palestinians from Palestine, and called for additional EU sanctions.

The government reached consensus on the ban earlier this week and does not require cabinet approval. Immigration officials will refuse entry to both Israeli ministers. The statement noted that the two officials play significant roles in the deteriorating humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
