KDDI Acquires 14.9% Stake in Coincheck for $65 Million, Deal Expected to Close in June

Japanese telecommunications company KDDI will acquire a 14.9% stake in Nasdaq-listed crypto exchange Coincheck Group through a $65 million equity investment expected to close in June 2026. KDDI will purchase 28.5 million newly issued shares at $2.28 per share. The companies also signed a business alliance agreement covering customer referral programs, revenue-sharing initiatives, and digital asset distribution across KDDI’s consumer ecosystem.
