Korean Retail Investors' U.S. Stock Net Purchases Hit $2.53B in July, Up 4x Month-over-Month

According to the Korea Financial Investment Association and Korea Securities Depository, Korean retail investors' net purchases of U.S. stocks reached $2.53 billion in the first 23 days of July, a fourfold increase from June's $633 million. The shift reflects heightened volatility in South Korea's domestic stock market, which triggered circuit breakers on 10 consecutive trading days, prompting investors to seek relatively stable U.S. equities. Among specific holdings, the Direxion Daily Semiconductors Bull 3X ETF led inflows at $1.50 billion, while popular U.S. benchmark ETFs tracking the S&P 500 and Nasdaq-100 also saw significant capital inflows.
