According to Korea Exchange, the daily average turnover rate for KOSPI-listed stocks declined to 0.79% through July 6, the lowest level since December 0.63%, amid investor caution following the benchmark index's 5.02% drop over the same period.
The KOSPI fell on all but one trading day from July 1-6, pressured by concerns about semiconductor demand and profit-taking following strong gains. Daily average trading volume also fell to 470 million shares, the lowest monthly average this year, as investors adopted a wait-and-watch stance.
