KOSPI Surges 3% in Morning, Reverses to Decline as Samsung Electronics Weakens

According to Yonhap Infomax, KOSPI surged over 3% in early trading on July 9 but reversed course in afternoon sessions, erasing earlier gains. The reversal was driven by weakness in Samsung Electronics, the index's heavyweight component. As of afternoon, KOSPI traded at 7,236.68, down 10.11 points or 0.14% from the previous close, after reaching an intraday high of 7,543.86.
