According to Bloomberg Commodity News (First Financial), institutional buyers withdrew over 50,000 tonnes of copper futures inventory from London Metal Exchange (LME) on May 22, marking the largest single-day delivery since 2013. The withdrawal was driven by widening price spreads between COMEX and LME copper futures, amid market positioning ahead of a U.S. tariff decision on refined copper imports due by end of June. Global copper inventory has been flowing toward the United States in recent cycles.
