According to Yonhap Infomax, Meta Platforms announced today (July 8) it will invest over CAD 13 billion to construct a 1-gigawatt data center in Sturgeon County, Alberta, Canada. The facility will be Meta's 33rd data center globally and optimized for artificial intelligence workloads.
The company expects approximately 3,000 construction workers on-site during peak construction, with the facility supporting over 300 permanent operating jobs. Meta also plans to invest CAD 60 million in local infrastructure including roads and water systems.
