Sen. Wyden Urges Senate Leaders to Preserve Blockchain Developer Protections in Crypto Bill

According to The Block, Senator Ron Wyden sent a letter this week to Senate Majority Leader John Thune and Senate Democratic Leader Charles Schumer urging them to preserve Section 604, known as the Blockchain Regulatory Certainty Act (BRCA), in the broader Clarity Act. The BRCA creates a safe harbor for non-custodial blockchain developers, clarifying they are not money transmitters. Wyden, the sole cosponsor of the bill introduced by Senator Cynthia Lummis earlier this year, argued that the provision balances law enforcement capabilities with innovation while including protections against illicit activity.
