Meta Faces $1.4 Trillion Lawsuit From Four U.S. States Over Addictive Algorithm Design on July 13

According to Guru Club, on July 13, Meta faced a combined lawsuit from four U.S. states accusing the company of using addictive algorithms to target minors and concealing negative impacts on youth mental health, seeking $1.4 trillion in damages. A total of 29 U.S. states have filed related lawsuits. Separately, the European Commission issued a preliminary report under the Digital Services Act, ordering Meta to modify addictive design features such as autoplay and infinite scroll, or face penalties equivalent to 6% of its global annual revenue. Meta denied the allegations and said it will continue to defend itself.
