Metaplanet, JPYC, Progmat Begin Bitcoin Bond Study on July 10

According to the announcement on July 10, 2026, Metaplanet, JPYC and Progmat began a joint study on bitcoin-backed digital bonds and credit products. The three-month research initiative, filed under Metaplanet's Project NOVA strategy, will examine whether tokenized instruments collateralized by Bitcoin can operate within Japan's regulatory framework. Tokyo-listed Metaplanet, which holds approximately 43,000 BTC valued at $2.75 billion, acquired Siiibo Securities in June for roughly $13 million to gain securities distribution licenses and access to approximately 250,000 investors. No product launch date, interest rate or regulatory approval has been set; the study examines feasibility only.
