Nuclear Fusion Will Replace Natural Gas as Primary Energy for AI Data Centers Within 15 Years, Says Softbank's Masayoshi Son

According to Softbank founder Masayoshi Son on July 14 at the company's annual conference in Tokyo, nuclear fusion will replace natural gas as the primary energy source for AI data centers within 15 years. Son predicted that by 2040, global data center capacity will reach 3 terawatts (TW), with nuclear fusion becoming a new, cheaper, cleaner, and safer energy source to meet the expanding power demands of artificial intelligence infrastructure.
