According to the Wall Street Journal on July 26, Nvidia is in talks with OpenAI to provide approximately $250 billion in financing guarantees for a massive data center project in southern Ohio. The project, developed by SoftBank subsidiary, is planned with 10 gigawatts capacity and aims to become operational by 2028, with total chip procurement potentially exceeding $500 billion. The guarantee will cover data center lease and construction debt but exclude Nvidia chips themselves, while the two parties are also negotiating up to $350 billion in chip purchase financing.
