According to Fortune, OpenAI is considering legal action against Apple over how ChatGPT has been integrated into Siri, citing the feature’s failure to drive meaningful paid subscription conversions. The collaboration, established roughly two years ago, was intended to enhance Siri’s ability to handle complex queries while expanding ChatGPT’s user reach through Apple’s ecosystem. However, OpenAI expressed disappointment with the current presentation and referral effectiveness of ChatGPT within Siri, arguing the arrangement may breach contractual expectations.
OpenAI’s legal team has engaged external law firms to evaluate options, including potential litigation. The relationship has grown tense, and Apple is exploring deeper partnerships with OpenAI competitors.
