According to Beating, OpenAI announced on May 16 a major internal reorganization merging ChatGPT, AI coding agent Codex, and developer APIs into a unified core product team. Co-founder and President Greg Brockman is now formally overseeing product strategy while continuing infrastructure responsibilities.

Key leadership changes include: Codex head Thibault Sottiaux promoted to lead the core product and platform team; ChatGPT leader Nick Turley transitioning to enterprise products; and former Instagram executive Ashley Alexander taking consumer product oversight. The restructuring concentrates resources on AI agent development and reinforces OpenAI’s product architecture ahead of anticipated 2026 IPO plans.
