Ord.io and Zap to Shut Down on June 1 After Running Out of Funds

Bitcoin Ordinals explorer Ord.io and its associated trading app Zap will shut down on June 1 after running out of funds, according to Leonidas King, creator of Ord.io. "In the end we ran out of money and don't see a path forward," King wrote on X, with co-founder Zach Meyer confirming the decision. Ord.io, which launched in 2023 during the peak of the Bitcoin Ordinals boom, attracted more than 1 million users over its lifespan by offering an explorer for inscriptions alongside social features and tools for tracking rare satoshis and Runes minting activity. The platform said it plans to preserve historical data by uploading records to GitHub to allow future developers to rebuild Ordinals-related tools.
