According to Reuters, Panasonic Holdings expects its battery unit to more than double operating income in the year ending March 2027, rebounding from a 3.8 billion yen (US$24.2 million) operating loss in the January-to-March quarter of fiscal 2026. The unit, which supplies batteries to Tesla, is forecast to achieve significantly stronger profitability compared to 69.8 billion yen (US$444 million) in the year ended March 2026. The prior quarter loss was attributed to U.S. tariffs, start-up costs at its Kansas plant, and lower sales at a factory in Japan.
