Reid Hoffman: NFTs May Return as AI Agents Need Crypto Trust

Reid Hoffman, Greylock partner and LinkedIn co-founder, said autonomous agents will need crypto-based trust systems to transact across the open internet, suggesting NFTs may make a comeback, according to his statement.

AI Agents and Trust Infrastructure

Hoffman’s remarks point to a potential resurgence of NFTs driven by the technical requirements of autonomous agents operating on the open internet. According to Hoffman, these agents will require crypto-based trust systems to conduct transactions, indicating a functional use case beyond speculative trading.

Reid always manages to set the narrative when he makes calls, but the trust issue of autonomous agents is much more complicated than payments. No one has yet figured out how to design reputation on the blockchain.

Open machine-to-machine payments on the internet; traditional bank APIs can't handle the latency at all. Crypto is a necessity, not an option.

#BTC Let's take a breather and prepare to see $83,000. But it won't happen immediately, of course. We need to be patient for a few days and conserve our energy here. There's no need to rush. Let's proceed calmly.

Greylock has invested in many infrastructure projects; there's something behind this statement, probably related to their portfolio holdings.

NFT comeback? Don't rush to FOMO just yet; it depends on the specific utility scenario, and the PFP approach probably won't cut it.

Hoffman's perspective is quite interesting; AI agents indeed need some kind of native settlement layer, and the permissionless nature of crypto fits perfectly.
