Russia Deploys 19-Year-Old Tanker to Load Sanctioned LNG; Fleet Expands to 21 Ships

According to Jin10, a 19-year-old LNG tanker, Arctic Express, docked at a U.S.-sanctioned Russian gas facility today (June 29), loading blacklisted natural gas for the first time. The vessel, which entered service in 2007 and switched to Russian registry in May, was moored at the Sakhalin storage facility supplied by the Arctic LNG 2 project—both under American sanctions. The operation reflects Moscow's efforts to circumvent Western restrictions; tracking data shows at least 21 ships are now being used to transport LNG from sanctioned Russian projects.
