Russia Recalls Ambassador to Armenia on May 30 Over EU Rapprochement

According to Russia's Foreign Ministry, on May 30, Russia recalled its ambassador to Armenia to Moscow for consultations, citing Armenia's accelerated rapprochement with the European Union. Armenian President Hayk Khachatryan signed legislation in April 2025 to initiate Armenia's accession process to the EU. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan previously stated that Armenia will not hold dual membership in both the EU and the Eurasian Economic Union.
