Scale AI Receives $500M Pentagon Contract for AI Data Processing

According to ChainCatcher, the U.S. Department of Defense awarded Scale AI, backed by Meta Platforms, a $500 million contract to help process data and support military decision-making. The award is five times larger than the $100 million contract the San Francisco-based company received in September 2025. Scale AI’s public sector lead Dan Tadross said the Pentagon had “pushed to the limit” under the previous agreement and that the new contract demonstrates the department’s urgent need to adopt AI technology. Scale AI is also participating in the Defense Innovation Unit’s Thunder Forge program, which aims to integrate AI into military planning and operations.
