Senate Minority Leader Calls for Rehiring CDC Staff, Restoring Pandemic Funding on May 11

According to Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer on May 11, cruise ship inspectors, port health workers, and disease detectives previously dismissed should be rehired, and funding for infectious disease and pandemic preparedness at the Department of Health and Human Services and CDC should be restored. Schumer also called for the United States to rejoin the World Health Organization (WHO), describing these three measures as "common sense" via social media.
