Singapore's Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) entered a five-year partnership with CuspAI to use artificial intelligence and autonomous labs to accelerate the discovery and validation of new materials, aiming to cut the process from years to months. Initial projects are underway in semiconductors, carbon capture, and battery materials.
CuspAI, a Cambridge-based materials discovery startup founded in 2024 by Dr. Chad Edwards and Professor Max Welling, has raised over $650 million from investors including Temasek, Samsung, and Hyundai Motor Group. A*STAR is a founding member of CuspAI's AI Materials Foundry, a network of more than 45 partners across industry, labs, data, and computing, including Nvidia and Meta.
