SK Telecom Establishes AI Data Center Subsidiary, Allocates 750B Won Through 2030

According to Seoul Economic, on July 23, SK Telecom announced the establishment of SK Hyper, a dedicated subsidiary focused on AI data center development, with 750 billion won in investment planned through 2030. The company aims to construct a 5GW-scale AI data center in the Yeongnam region, including Ulsan, by 2029, with plans to expand infrastructure to 15GW total capacity across additional regions including Chungcheong. In a separate move, Woori Bank allocated approximately 750 billion won to build 200 residential units exclusively for junior employees at its Seoul locations, addressing housing cost pressures in a high inflation environment.
