South Korea Designates 2.5 Million Pyeong for Honam Semiconductor Complex on July 29

According to South Korea's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT), on July 29, the government designated approximately 2.5 million pyeong (8,264 square meters) of land at Gwangju Military Airport as a candidate site for a Honam Region Semiconductor Advanced Industrial Complex. The designation follows a request from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, which considered demand from Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix. MOLIT plans to develop the site into an advanced industrial ecosystem supporting anchor firms, suppliers, and research institutions, alongside residential, educational, and transportation infrastructure.
