South Korea Expresses Serious Concern Over Two Citizens Detained and Assaulted by Israeli Military

According to Xinhua, South Korea's Foreign Ministry expressed serious concern on May 22 over two Korean citizens who alleged they were beaten by Israeli military forces while attempting to sail to Gaza to protest the Israeli blockade. The citizens were detained when their vessels were intercepted by Israeli forces and were released on May 20, returning to South Korea on May 22. One of the freed detainees, identified as Kim, reported at the airport that repeated blows to his face resulted in hearing loss in his left ear.
