South Korea Launches 1.5 Trillion Won K-Culture Value-Up Fund on July 22

According to South Korea's Financial Services Commission, announced today (July 22), the government established a 1.5 trillion won K-Culture Value-Up Fund to support AI content and Korean cultural industry development. The fund, structured through collaboration between the National Growth Fund and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, combines 500 billion won in government funding and 300 billion won from industrial banks to attract over 700 billion won in private capital. Investment will be divided into two areas: AI and intellectual property (1 trillion won) supporting AI-driven content creation and IP-leveraging enterprises, and content innovation (500 billion won) supporting content production and distribution companies. The fund requires at least 50% investment in domestic K-culture firms, with mandatory allocations to AI content and IP companies. Operator selection proposals close August 12, with final selection expected in September.
