South Korea Launches Three Mega Projects, Plans Blockchain Sovereign Debt Tokenization Trial in H2 2026

According to EToday, South Korea announced its "Economic Growth Strategy for H2 2026" on July 14, unveiling plans to accelerate three major initiatives: semiconductor, AI data center, and embodied AI projects. The government aims to double storage chip capacity within five years and will launch a nationwide AI chatbot and unified AI education platform in the second half of this year. South Korea also plans to initiate a blockchain-based sovereign debt tokenization pilot program, exploring integration with the central bank's institutional CBDC to upgrade financial infrastructure. Additionally, the country will establish strategic investment accounts and a national growth fund to provide long-term capital support for AI, quantum technology, cybersecurity, and blockchain sectors.
