South Korean Banks Adjust Mid-Rate Loan Supply in H2 2026 as Policy Incentive Remains Unclear

According to Yonhapinfomax on July 23, South Korean banks are adjusting their mid-rate loan supply pace to meet H2 2026 targets as a proposed regulatory exemption remains unconfirmed. KB Kookmin Bank, which supplied 684.8 billion won in mid-rate loans during H1, has handled approximately 45% of its full-year target of 1.53 trillion won and plans to accelerate distribution to reach the remaining 55% in the second half. All banks are subject to strict household lending volume caps, with no exemption for mid-rate loans currently applied, forcing lenders to balance growth goals against regulatory constraints.
