South Korean Entertainment Stocks Slide 40-50% YTD, Brokers Slash Price Targets

According to Maeil Business Newspaper, major South Korean entertainment stocks fell sharply earlier this month amid sector-wide valuation adjustments. HYBE declined 39.52% year-to-date, while JYP Entertainment, YG Entertainment, and SM Entertainment fell 39.74%, 45.53%, and 50.37%, respectively, significantly underperforming the broader market.

Multiple brokerages lowered price targets: DS Investment Securities cut HYBE's target from 450,000 Korean won to 350,000 won, SK Securities reduced JYP's from 92,000 won to 75,000 won, and Shinhan Investment trimmed SM's from 130,000 won to 110,000 won. However, analysts remain optimistic for the second half, citing upcoming artist comebacks, world tours, and new group debuts set to drive earnings growth.
